Crawford announces run for Crook County judge

Today, Crook County Commissioner Seth Crawford announced his intent to seek the position of Crook County Judge.

If elected, Crawford’s priorities will be jobs, long-term budget planning, growing grassroots small business programs such as the Made in Crook County campaign, and maintaining the quality of life that has made Crook County a great place to raise a family.

“My priorities are jobs, long-term budget planning, transparency, and maintaining our quality of life. I believe those are the priorities of the people of Crook County and I’m asking them for their mandate. We’ve made some good progress, but we need to continue that momentum,” said Crawford.

Crawford has focused on building the small business community since he first took office in 2011.

“Apple and Facebook have been great additions to our community, but locally-owned businesses are our lifeblood. For the last year, I’ve focused on many of our locally-owned businesses, using the Made in Crook County videos. It’s helping build awareness of those businesses, locally and outside the area, and we’ve done it at almost no cost. Those are the types of creative programs that I want to focus on,” said Crawford.

Prior to being elected as Crook County Commissioner, Crawford sat on the Prineville city planning commission. During his time as commissioner, he has played a key role in numerous Crook County initiatives, including:

Expanding the technology sector in Crook County

Working with various stakeholders to implement three miles of mountain biking trails below the grade

Helping to raise $80,000 for the Prineville bike park

Welcoming business to Crook County by stream-lining the County’s building and planning departments

Pursuing common sense zoning regulations, which have sought to enable landowners to more fully realize the value of their real property.

Fighting for transparency by making County Court agendas available online

Spearheading and fundraising the Flags of Prineville Project

Collaborating with other key stakeholders to launch a new tourism region called River Canyon Country. The region includes: Crook County, Jefferson county, Crooked River Ranch, Terrebonne, Maupin, and Warm Springs)

Implementing long-term budget planning

Expanding small business through grassroots initiatives such as the Made in Crook County campaign and agriculture tourism through Crooked River Open Pasture events

Working with local farmers to form the Crook County small farm alliance

Working with the athletic department to bring a trainer to Crook County High School

Swimming the Prineville Reservoir 10 miles from dam to river to raise money for the Humane Society

Working with local contractors to identify efficiencies in the community development department

Seth Crawford is a 4 th generation Oregonian and a graduate of the University of Oregon. Crawford is an active member and/or supporter of the following organizations: the Crook County Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Prineville, CC Cattleman’s Association, Oregon Hunters Association, Central Oregon Trail Alliance, Crook County 4-H and Future Farmers of America programs, High Desert Food and Farm Alliance, Friends of the Flag, Friends of the Library, Crook County Historical Society, and Crook County High School boosters.

He lives in Prineville, Oregon with his wife Susan and their daughters, Chloe, Reagan and Landon. He is a passionate swimmer, hunter, fisherman and father.
