Three arrested in meth raid on La Pine home
Three people arrested in a drug raid on a La Pine home Thursday also are charged with endangering the welfare of a 9-year-old child who also was home at the time, officers said.
Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives, assisted by Bend police and Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies, executed a drug-related search warrant around 8 a.m. Thursday at a home at 15943 Cascade Lane, said Lt. Ken Mannix.
It resulted from a nearly two-month investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in Deschutes County, Mannix said. More information came from a number of sources, including citizens concerned about criminal activity occurring at the home, he added.
Four people were in the home at the time the search warrant was served – Brett Ballard, 53, Adam Harken, 37, Heather Rich, 40, and the 9-year-old. All were taken into custody without incident, and state Department of Human Services (Child Welfare) was contacted about the child.
Evidence seized at the home included about a half-ounce of meth, scales, packaging material, drug records, a firearm, drug paraphernalia, two bikes stolen in Bend and other evidence of drug sales, distribution and manufacturing.
All three were booked into the Deschutes County Jail in Bend. Ballard also was charged with meth possession, distribution and manufacturing and was held without bail on a parole violation, while Harken remained in jail Friday in lieu of $20,000 bail on added charges of hindering prosecution and three counts of contempt of court. Rich was released on her own recognizance.
