Several shots fired at SE Bend house; 2 arrested
Two Bend men who got into a fight with four other men in southeast Bend early Friday tried to hit them with their SUV and later returned and fired several shots from a shotgun and handgun at their home, hitting a car and fence instead, police said. They were arrested on attempted murder and numerous other charges.
Officers responded around 1:45 a.m. to a report of shots fired in the area of Southeast Reed Market Road and Fourth Street, said Lt. Clint Burleigh, adding that no one was injured in the incident.
Earlier, Luis Campos Jr., 24, and Peter Dupuis, 26, were involved in an altercation with four other men, ages 19 and 20, Burleigh said. They got into a physical dispute, then left the scene.
Burleigh said Campos, at the wheel of a Ford Explorer, tried to use it as a weapon, backing up toward them in an attempt to hit them, but instead running into a post.
The men fled the area in the SUV, but returned a short time later and fired several rounds at the home of one of the men. A vehicle and fence around the home were hit and damaged by the shotgun and 9mm handgun rounds. The guns were recovered during the investigation, Burleigh added.
Both men were booked into the Deschutes County Jail and held on more than $1 million bail. They face four counts each of attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, conspiracy to commit murder and assault, menacing and reckless endangering, and single counts of second-degree criminal mischief.
Campos also is charged with hit-and-run causing property damage.
