New bus a ‘Cinderella carriage’ for Oregon Adaptive Sports

KTVZ

Oregon Adaptive Sports, a local nonprofit who provides life-changing outdoor recreation experiences for people with disabilities, has been trucking around Central Oregon since 1996.

As of this month, OAS is now able to expand its reach and serve more people from the tri-county region with their (almost) brand new 14-passenger bus, thanks to the support of 100+ Women Who Care of Central Oregon.

It was a hard and long search for OAS to find the right bus but OAS finally found their Cinderella ride. The Ford F-350 14-passenger bus includes a lift and ramp access, in addition to wheel chair seating areas allowing OAS to provide comfortable and safe transportation options to their participants.

The new bus will provide transportation for OAS participants to various program sites including Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo Ski Area, parks, rivers and lakes through out the Central Oregon area. The bus will be especially helpful for the growing youth programs OAS is now offering.

“This is an exciting time and allows us to offer a broader range of programs, to reach out to more individuals, all at a lower cost,” says Suzanne Lafky, Executive Director of OAS.

The OAS bus will be introduced to the 100+ Women Who Care of Central Oregon on Thursday, September 24 th at their next quarterly meeting. The ladies from 100+ Women Who Care of Central Oregon meet only four times a year but have donated over $70,000 to local charities in just one year of operation.
