Oregon Adaptive Sports sets ‘Heroes in Summer’ event

Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) ‘Heroes in Summer’ weekend sport retreat for service members or veterans with a physical disability will be at Eagle Crest and through out Redmond September 25 th through September 27 th .

The Heroes in Summer weekend is the summer version of the popular OAS Heroes in Sisters skiing week-end for veterans and their families.

Participants will be provided instruction in adaptive golfing, cycling, kayaking and some hiking thanks to the support of the Warfighters Sport program through Disability Sports USA, the National Amputee Golf Association, Eugene Parks and Team River Runners.

OAS hosts the entire weekend for the veterans and their families to give wounded warriors and families an opportunity to participate in sporting events free of any costs.

The weekend is made possible through the Warfighters Sports program through DSUSA and is open to any service member or veteran with a physical disability.

OAS will also be partnering with the National Amputee Golf Association to provide a First Swing clinic on September 25 th which is open to golf professionals, physical therapists, recreation professionals, family and anyone who is interested in learning more about adaptive golf. Oregon Adaptive Sports has been breaking barriers in Central Oregon since 1996, providing life-changing outdoor recreation experiences to individuals with disabilities. Participants gain confidence, build self-esteem and strive for independence leading to an enhanced quality of life. We currently offer instructional programs in alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding, at both Hoodoo and Mt. Bachelor ski resorts as well as summer programs such as golf, cycling and kayaking through throughout the great Bend area.
