Charity golf tourney participants donate coats to needy

KTVZ

It was a fittingly cool and rainy day Saturday for a charity golf tournament at Widgi Creek Golf Course, gathering coats in need at Bend’s Bethlehem Inn homeless shelter

Ninety men and women took part in the inaugural “Good to Give – Bring on the Heat!” tournament, donating 185 new or “gently used” coats for those in need, said Gwenn Wysling, the shelter’s executive director.

:The day unfolded beautifully to benefit the 75+ individuals including families staying at the shelter,” Wysling said. “The rain before and after and the cooler temperatures makes one understand the importance of having a place like the Bethlehem Inn to provide a safe, secure environment for those experiencing homelessness.”
