A Chiloquin woman was killed and a toddler and 17-year-old Bend girl were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a two-car collision on state Highway 62 south of Crater Lake, Oregon State Police said.

Around 4:12 p.m., troopers and and emergency personnel responded to the reported collision at the Highway 62 junction with Highway 422 in northern Klamath County, said OSP Lt. Bill Fugate.

Preliminary information indicated a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Michelle Rose Cirrito, 28, of Chiloquin was heading south on Highway 62 when it collided with a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta as it pulled out from Highway 422, Fugate said. Both cars overturned after impact.

Cirrito was pronounced dead at the crash scene, Fugate said. Her passenger, a 15-month-old girl, and the 17-year-old Bend girl driving the Volkswagen were taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls with serious injuries. The toddler later was transfered to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, he said.

The crash partially blocked the road for about six hours, troopers said.

OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, Chiloquin Fire and the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing, Fugate said, and more information will be released when it is available.
