C.O. police join in nationwide domestic violence sweep
Six police agencies across Deschutes County attempted to serve 140 domestic violence warrants and made seven arrests during a recent five-hour operation, part of a nationwide family violence apprehension detail, authorities said Tuesday.
Last Wednesday, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Deschutes County Adult Parole and Probation and the Bend, Redmond, Sunriver and Black Butte Ranch police departments for the 13th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, said sheriff’s Sgt. Don Manning.
There were 498 agencies from 38 states across the nation participating in the event, focusing on domestic violence warrants across the nation.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office coordinates the event for the nation and has made this detail a success, Manning said.
More than 2,400 law enforcement members participated and more than 8,200 warrants were executed or attempted to be served, with 1,654 arrests reported in this year’s operation.
A total of 26 personnel with the six Deschutes County agencies took part in a five-hour detail that included all of the county, including incorporated cities, Manning said.
