TEAM OREGON Motorcycle Safety Program recognized Sherry Brooke of Bend for its Lifetime Achievement award on Saturday at its annual awards banquet.

The award honors a veteran motorcycle safety instructor with outstanding energy, dedication and excellence in service to the motorcyclists of Oregon.

“Sherry has been a terrific asset to students and instructors alike,” said TEAM OREGON Director Steve Garets.

Brooke, an instructor since 2003, has taught 249 motorcycle safety courses to an estimated total of more than 2,500 motorcycle riders in the Bend area. She also serves as a mentor to new instructors, offering support and advice while they learn the ropes of an active training environment.

“The instructors she’s mentored point to her kindness and unerring professionalism. The tone Sherry sets is encouraging, positive and willing. There may be no way to measure the true impact of these qualities, but we recognize them at the heart of what we do,” said Garets.

TEAM OREGON is a cooperative partnership between the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State University. More than 1,400 rider training courses are offered at 24 locations statewide February – November. For more information, visit http://team-oregon.org or call 800-545-9944.
