Bend’s new ice rink set to open by Christmas break
The Bend Park and Recreation District said Monday it will be opening The Pavilion, the community’s new ice rink and recreation facility, in time for the December holiday break. They said it’s expected the facility will open between Dec. 19 and 24.
“While construction is progressing well, The Pavilion will be ready for occupancy a few weeks later than we had originally anticipated,” said Matt Mercer, the park district’s director of recreation.
“We are extremely excited to share this special facility with the community and get people and programs on the ice,” Mercer said. “While we expect The Pavilion to be open for drop-in holiday skate sessions, we have updated registration programs to now begin the first week of January.”
Participants registered for adult hockey and curling leagues, Learn to Play Hockey, Learn to Skate and Tots Skate have been contacted about program updates. For additional information or questions, registrants are encouraged to contact the District’s customer service at (541) 389-7275.
Drop-in skate session schedules are available online at www.bendparksandrec.org for the holiday break and for the regular season, January 4 – March 27.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding with the adjusted opening date,” said Mercer said. “Everyone at the District looks forward to hosting skating and playing on the ice in time for the December holiday season.”
