Camp Fire Central Oregon joins in Giving Tuesday

KTVZ

Camp Fire Central Oregon, a local organization that provides programs for our youth to find their spark and ensure they gain the skills necessary to thrive throughout their lives, announces the kick off of its year-end giving campaign starting with #GivingTuesday TM , December 1.

#GivingTuesday™ is a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Camp Fire CO wants you to know there are more valuable ways to spend this holiday season. #GivingTuesday is your chance to donate to those that could use the spark on behalf of the people in your lives that give you spark. Camp Fire encourages all youth, teens, families, and communities to give — through time, money, or resources.

“There really is a generous giving spirit and genuine focus on kids and community here in Central Oregon,” said Kecia Kubota, Executive Director of Campfire Central Oregon. “People here know how lucky they have it and I think are truly driven to give back versus consuming more. There are too many kids alone right now, without a friend or family member to talk to – nearly 40,000 in Central Oregon. We are working hard to improve the way these children see themselves and the world around them, and we need the support of our community to make that happen.”

As a way to raise awareness and holiday cheer by celebrating non profit organizations, Camp Fire has joined the state wide movement #OregoniansGive. Marking its first year, #OregoniansGive is built on the message of #GivingTuesday and includes organizations from all corners of the state. To date, hundreds of nonprofits have signed on to take part in the day of giving, including Camp Fire Central Oregon.
