Free goodie bags offered for C.O. pets in need

KTVZ

Bend Spay+Neuter Project and Bend Pet Express want to make sure that every pet in Central Oregon has a Merry Christmas. In order to do that, the two organizations have teamed up to provide holiday goodie bags for needy cats and dogs here in Central Oregon.

The idea came from the HOPE Pet Food Bank, a collaboration between Bend Spay+Neuter Project and Bend Pet Express which operates once a month out of the westside Bend Pet Express location.

“Each month we see clients in need at HOPE and we are able to give them free food for their pets. People are so thankful to receive the food, we thought, why not try and give them a little extra for the holidays? We can’t thank Bend Pet Express enough for their generosity; they have stepped up to provide so many donations to help local pets and we are so lucky to have them in our community.” said BSNP Executive Director Megan Gram.

Goodie bags include blankets, leashes and collars, food, toys and treats, and most importantly, according to the dogs anyways… tennis balls! Most importantly to BSNP staff and volunteers, the bags include coupons for a $20 spay or neuter and a free vaccination at Bend Spay+Neuter Project’s Saturday Wellness Clinics.

Items in the goodie bags were donated by Spindrift, Buddy Cat, Petco and Bend Pet Express. Although most of the items were donated, donations are being accepted to help cover the cost of providing discounted spay/neuter surgeries and free vaccinations. To donate, please visit www.bendsnip.org or call 541-617-1010.

Goodie bags will be distributed to organizations like Central Oregon Veteran’s Outreach, Deschutes County Behavioral Health, La Pine Community Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and The Bend Senior Center today and tomorrow. Any bags left over will go to Three Rivers Humane Society in Madras. To request a bag, please email outreach@bendsnip.org.
