Methamphetamine raid on Culver home brings two arrests

An investigation over several months by Central Oregon drug agents led to a raid on a Culver home early Wednesday at which a man and woman were arrested on numerous drug charges – one for the second time in six months, officers said.

Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team detectives executed a search warrant around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 415 West Third Street in Culver, said Lt. Ken Mannix.

An investigation into Alex Barajas, 32, and Gaylyn Fenn, 62, spanned several months, in Deschutes and Jefferson counties, Mannix said.

Detectives already had identified Barajas as a major methamphetamine supplier in the region when he was arrested last September, Mannix said. In that case, detectives found about 2.3 pounds of meth concealed in different areas of a car he was a passenger in, mostly hidden in the dashboard.

In the recent investigation, the pair allegedly worked together to distribute meth from various locations in the two counties, including their Culver home, where a search warrant was granted.

Barajas and Fenn were found in the home at the time of the raid and taken into custody without incident, Mannix said.

Evidence found during the search included “a commercial amount” of methamphetamine, Mannix said, along with scales, packaging material, cash and other evidence of meth sales and manufacturing.

Barajas and Fenn were lodged at the Jefferson County jail on drug possession manufacturing and distribution charges, as well as unlawful drug manufacturing and distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and frequenting a place where drugs are used, kept or sold. Each remained lodged at the Madras jail late Thursday, held on $95,000 bail.
