Two Prineville-area residents were arrested and jailed on DUII charges in a pair of unrelated weekend single-vehicle crashes, one day and three miles apart, on Juniper Canyon Road southeast of Prineville, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said Monday.

Around 10:50 a.m. Saturday, deputies were called to a crash near milepost 4, about five miles southeast of Prineville, said Undersheriff James Savage.

Deputies found a blue Chevy four-door car upside down off the east side of the road. Savage said they determined the driver, Cheryl Ann Street, 60, lost control of the car while negotiating a corner.

Street was arrested on a DUII charge, while her passenger, her elderly mother, was taken to St. Charles Prineville for evaluation.

“The key factor in the rollover accident was alcohol,” Savage wrote in a news release, adding that “Street was over two times the legal limit” of .08 blood-alcohol content.

Crook County Fire and Rescue and Prineville police assisted at the scene.

Around 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, deputies responded to another crash on Juniper Canyon Road near milepost 7.5, about eight miles southeast of Prineville, Savage said.

Arriving deputies found a red dodge Neon off the east side of the road. Savage said they determined the driver, Ryan Jay Huber, lost control of the car on a corner and it slid sideways off the road.

Huber was arrested on DUII charges, and Savage said Huber was more than three times over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
