Taste of Town, Meal of Year raise $327,000 for COCC scholarships

The recent Central Oregon Community College Foundation’s Taste of the Town and Meal of the Year benefits raised $327,000 for student scholarships at COCC. This year, 340 students received COCC Foundation scholarships.

“We continued to be humbled by the outpouring of community support for our scholarship program at COCC,” said Zak Boone, executive director of the COCC Foundation. “The proceeds from this year’s events will again be truly transformative for literally hundreds of COCC students.”

This year’s benefit included Taste of the Town on Feb. 26 and the Meal of the Year dinner and auctions on Feb. 27. The sold-out Friday event featured signature selections from 20 local restaurants, live music by High Street Band, dancing and a raffle.

More than 400 people attended the Saturday dinner, which featured a four-course gourmet dinner created and served by Cascade Culinary Institute students and chefs as well as live and silent auctions. In addition, Greg and Patricia Moss were honored fortheir numerous contributions to the Central Oregon community.
