The operators of Mt. Bachelor late Wednesday announced “leadership changes,” including the departure of President and General Manager Dave Rathbun after eight years at the helm of the ski and snowboard resort west of Bend.

In a brief announcement, Powdr Corp., the Park City, Utah-based “active entertainment and mountain resort company” announced that Rathbun “will be stepping out of the organization to pursue other interests.”

“Effective immediately, John McLeod will serve as interim general manager while continuing in his current role as director of finance for the resort.”

“Dave’s deep knowledge of the industry and commitment to the mountain and local community over the past eight years is truly appreciated and respected,” said Tim Brennwald, Powder Resorts’ chief operating officer and executive vice president.

Stirling Cobb, marketing and communications manager for Mt. Bachelor LLC, said, “Over the course of eight years, Dave was able to make significant improvements to the mountain and overall culture here at Mt. Bachelor.”

“He will be missed by many, and all of us wish him the best with his future endeavors,” Cobb said by email.

Cobb also noted that Spencer Weimar, the resort’s director of marketing, sales and reservations, “has also left the organization to pursue other interests.”

“No other comments will be made on the matter at this time,” he concluded.
