Two Sunriver house break-ins prompt PD warning

KTVZ

Sunriver police warned residents Thursday evening to “be on the lookout for anything suspicious in your neighborhoods” after two home break-ins in the past two days.

Sgt. Joe Patnode said nothing was taken in one break-in in the resort community. But in the other case, he said, someone entered an unlocked residence and took $22 in cash, four beers and an Oregon State University backpack.

“We are interested in vehicles parked in a driveway where they are not supposed to, and open doors or broken windows etc.,” Patnode wrote. “Also we would be very interested to know if a ‘service person’ comes to your door when you have not requested that service.”

He gives an example of a maintenance person from a rental company showing up to fix your fence, but you never called anyone, or need your fence fixed.

“If this happens, get a LICENSE PLATE and vehicle description, and find out where or who they work for!” he asked.

“If something does not sound or look right, call us. We would be happy to come out and make sure all is well!” Sunriver police are at 541-593-1014.
