Every April, the world celebrates Earth Day. While many people throughout our communities want to help, people are unsure of what they personally can do.

Volunteer Connect, Central Oregon’s volunteer center, and SOLVE, a statewide non-profit focused on keeping Oregon clean and healthy, is calling for volunteers, to participate in the annual SOLVE IT for Earth Day event, one of the largest in the nation, on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23.

In it’s 27 th year, SOLVE IT for Earth Day offers several projects in Central Oregon for volunteers of any age to get involved and make a difference by cleaning up litter, removing non-native invasive plants, maintaining parks, and planting native plants to enhance natural areas.

Volunteers can register online at http://www.volunteerconnectnow.org/solve-it-for-earth-day.html or call Volunteer Connect at 541-385-8977.

“Central Oregon is an amazing playground for many of us. This event gives locals and families especially the chance to roll up their sleeves and give back to the places they love, making a positive difference as stewards of their natural environment,” says Katya Spiecker, Volunteer Connect Partnerships and Events Manager.

SOLVE IT for Earth Day is presented by Portland General Electric. Additional sponsors include Legacy Sponsor – Metro; Major Sponsors – Clean Water Services, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and Washington County; Media Sponsors – K103fm, and KOIN 6; Supporting Sponsors – City of Beaverton, Comcast, and Skanska; Community Sponsors – Advantis Credit Union and Genentech.
