OSU-Cascades hires engineer as transportation manager
Oregon State University – Cascades announced Friday it has hired a transportation program manager to oversee multi-modal transportation efforts and parking management for the new Bend campus.
“Casey Bergh recently joined the university and will be responsible for creating programs that promote active transportation options to lessen campus community members’ dependency on single-occupancy vehicles,” the announcement said.
He will also oversee the development of a parking management system that integrates technology to actively manage user demand, the university said.
OSU-Cascades said it will be the first “smart parking” technology deployed in Bend, providing data campus officials will use to monitor progress toward reducing automobile trips to campus.
In addition to collaborating with members of the campus community, Bergh will work closely with partners including the city of Bend, Cascades East Transit, Commute Options and the Oregon Department of Transportation to improve traffic safety in Central Oregon and advocate on issues related to transportation.
Bergh most recently worked for Kittleson & Associates, Inc., as a senior engineer focused on traffic engineering and transportation planning.
His projects included development of Oregon’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Implementation Plan, the City of Bend’s Transportation Safety Management Program, and transportation system plans for several Oregon cities and counties.
Bergh received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from OSU and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
