A Bend woman ran a stop sign and her SUV collided with another at the intersection of La Pine State Rec Road and Huntington Road Wednesday afternoon, sending the second driver to a Bend hospital, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies responded around 3 p.m. to the reported crash north of La Pine, said sheriff’s Sgt. Aaron Harding.

Deputies determined Stephanie Beutler, 26, of Bend, was heading north on Huntington Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a black 2002 GMC Denali heading west and driven by Rosemarie Trejo Arcos, 34, of La Pine, Harding said.

The crash sent both vehicles off the northwest corner of the intersection.

Trejo Arcos was trapped in her SUV and required extrication by La Pine Fire personnel. She was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend, where a house supervisor said she was in fair condition Wednesday night.

Beutler was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Harding said. She also was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device.

Traffic was restricted to one lane for about an hour, Harding said. An Oregon State Police trooper also assisted at the scene.
