Bend soap-maker really knows how to get your goat
It’s that time of year for the Bend Soap Co. — their goats are having babies. That’s important, because it allows the goats to lactate.
With the goats’ milk, Marilee and Dwight Johnson and their eight children make their special soaps that can help with skin irritation problems.
They also partner with St. Charles Bend to provide goats’ milk soaps to cancer patients whose skin is dying out from the effects chemotherapy.
“And so now we are working with St. Charles here in Bend, and we are giving bars of soap to anyone going through the treatment,” said Dwight Johnson said.
For almost five years now, Bend Soap Co. has been providing soaps not only to Central Oregonians, but to people all around the world.
The Johnsons began making their soap when their son Chance was diagnosed with eczema.
“Skin issues are across all gender, all races — everyone is struggling with some kind of skin issues,” Dwight Johnson said.
“We found that the goat milk soap — psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, we have had awesome feedback,” he said. “And then a lot of people don’t want chemicals in their skin. And they switched to our soap, and they love the way they feel.”
