Prineville PD to mark Peace Officers Memorial Week

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

By Presidential Proclamation the flags will be lowered to half-staff on May 15 th .

Local Event:

The Prineville Police Department and the Crook County Sheriff’s Office will be gathering on Monday, May 16 th , at 10 am in front of the Crook County Courthouse for a brief ceremony and remembrance of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their communities.

After a brief moment of silence, the honor guard will return the flags to full staff, followed by a brief statement by the Sheriff. The public is welcome to come and show their support.
