Police seize crystal meth in raid on Madras home

Several law enforcement agencies seized more than $1,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine during a raid Wednesday on a Madras home. A resident who was not home at the time later turned himself in to Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies.

Officers got a tip of a known drug dealer trading crystal meth for stolen property. Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies raided the home with the help of Oregon State Police,, Warm Springs Police and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team.

The sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at 911 Highway 97, looking for stolen property and narcotics, Sgt. Jason Erickson said.

According to the sheriff’s office, many people had been reporting their property stolen around Central Oregon. Investigators said they were able to recover some of those items in the home.

Warm Springs police were able to recover a truck, trailer and two ATVs that were reported stolen in Redmond a few weeks ago.

The suspect, Roger Nassett, left just before police raided the house, according to drug agents used police dogs to look for any evidence.

Officers located methamphetamine, firearms and stolen property inside the house.

Police said the amount of meth seized has a street value of more than $1,000.

Nassett turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon and was being booked into the county jail on several drug charges, officers said.
