Update: Missing La Pine man’s body found in Lake County

KTVZ

One week after a 64-year-old La Pine man left home on an outing and failed to return, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies announced Monday night that Jimmy Alen Robins’ body was found in northern Lake County earlier in the day.

Robins had left his home in the 15000 block of Camino De Oro Avenue in La Pine around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 16, according to a news release issued Saturday by sheriff’s Sgts. Don Manning and William Bailey.

Robins was driving his 1985 Ford F-150 pickup truck with Oregon license plate 982 BSK. It was described as a single-cab (two-door) pickup, two-toned in color, blue on the bottom and white on the top, the sergeants said. It also has a large white grille guard on the front.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office was notified by a citizen in northern Lake County that Robins’ pickup had been located on his property, located off Frederick Butte Road, between Brothers and Christmas Valley, Bailey said.

Robins was found deceased a short distance from his pickup, Bailey said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding Robins’ death, assisted by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies. But Bailey wrote, “at this time, his death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.”

Bailey had said Saturday that friends called the sheriff’s office a few hours after his unexpected departure, with no known expected return time. He said the news release seeking the public’s help was issued after no new information or leads had arisen in the intervening days.

Friends and family had said Robins could have been headed for the areas of Wickiup Reservoir or the upper Deschutes River. Sheriff’s deputies began to check those locations, without success.
