St. Charles Madras offers childbirth education classes

Families who are expecting a new baby and live in the Madras area now have the opportunity to take childbirth education classes at St. Charles Madras.

The three-week class, which is designed for first-time parents:

Provides an understanding of the labor and delivery process
Reviews breathing, relaxation and support measures for mother and coach
Discusses newborn behavior, care and feeding
Describes management of respiratory emergencies

Taught by a labor and delivery nurse, the class is held at St. Charles Madras in the Metolius conference room onWednesdayevenings from 6 to 8 p.m.

The next classes will be held:

Aug. 3, 10 and 17
Oct. 5, 12 and 19
Dec. 7, 14 and 21

The cost of the class is $40, or free for families who are scheduled to deliver at St. Charles Madras.

Additionally, childbirth education “refresher” classes will be heldJuly 6, Sept. 7 and Nov. 2.
