NW Crossing boy reports encounter with suspicious man
Bend police on Saturday confirmed the details of a disturbing encounter reported by a young boy on the porch of his NorthWest Crossing home with a man who stopped his pickup truck, came up and began asking very specific questions.
The neighborhood association sent out a notice Friday of the Thursday afternoon incident, in which a boy they identified as “K” was sitting on his porch when a tan truck drove by slowly, stopped and the man came up onto the porch to talk to him.
The boy said the man asked him his name and birthdate, as well as his favorite color.
“When the man got too close physically, K told the man he was invading his personal space,” the notice said. “Something spooked the man and he left.
The boy described the man as Caucasian with brown hair, a white beard or goatee and about 50 years old. He was wearing a baseball hat with a Jurassic Park-type dinosaur or skull emblem on the front. The pickup was tan with a matching canopy and had “4×4” written on the side.
People who see the man and-or truck “or witness any suspicious activity” was urged to contact 911 immediately.
Bend police Cpl. Jeff Frickey said there had been no similar incidents reported elsewhere in the area.
