Five injured, driver cited in DUII crash east of Bend
Five people were injured early Saturday in the rollover crash of an SUV on the Powell Butte Highway near Highway 20 east of Bend, including a 23-year-old Redmond man now facing DUII, reckless driving and other charges, Oregon State Police reported Sunday.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, troopers and emergency personnel responded to the single-vehicle crash, said OSP Capt. Bill Fugate.
An investigation found that a a 2001 Isuzu SUV driven by Shawn Seagraves Hall of Redmond was heading south on Powell Butte Highway at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the Highway 20 intersection, Fugate said.
The Isuzu left the road and rolled several times before coming to rest on its side, Fugate aid.
Fire crews had to cut away the roof to remove the five occupants, taken to St. Charles Bend with “injuries ranging from minor to serious,” Fugate said in a news release.
Seagraves Hall was listed in fair condition Sunday at the hospital, according to a house supervisor.
Fugate said Seagraves Hall was cited at the hospital on charges of DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering and second-degree assault.
He said more information is expected to be released on Monday.
