Cascades East Transit offering free bus rides Tuesday
Join Cascades East Transit and Commute Options for Transit Tuesday on October 11 . As part of the 5 th annual Drive Less Challenge, we’ll be celebrating the benefits of public transit in Central Oregon.
Cascades East Transit (CET) is offering FREE bus rides all day on all bus routes in Central Oregon, including fixed-routes in Bend and Community Connector shuttles to and from the communities of Redmond, Culver, Metolius, Madras, Warm Springs, Prineville, Sisters and La Pine. Cascades East Transit and Commute Options will also open up Hawthorne Transit Station (334 Hawthorne Avenue in Bend) as a pedestrian and transit plaza all day on Tuesday. The plaza will be open to buses, bikes and people as a safe and convenient space for active transportation activity.
Deschutes County Commissioner Alan Unger will ride the bus from the Deschutes County Administration building to Hawthorne Transit Station to celebrate local transit options. At 12:30 p.m., a brief program will include remarks from Jeff Monson from Commute Options, Karen Friend from Cascades East Transit, and Commissioner Alan Unger on the importance of walking, biking and bus connections throughout Central Oregon.
Transit Tuesday is part of a larger effort to promote walking, biking, carpooling and riding the bus in Central Oregon during the statewide Oregon Drive Less Challenge. The annual Drive Less Challenge ( October 1 -15) encourages Oregon residents to choose active transportation instead of driving alone.
