PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old woman accused of killing a man in Gresham.

A Gresham police spokesman said Monday that Ariana Marlene Cortez has been booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a murder charge. He said the investigation remains active.

A woman called 9-1-1 early Sunday to report finding a man who appeared to have been assaulted. The victim lost consciousness and died a short time later.

Gresham police plan to release the victim’s name and cause of death after Monday’s autopsy.

Oregon court records show Cortez has previous arrests for misdemeanor theft, most recently pleading guilty in March to stealing merchandise from a Fred Meyer store. The Gresham woman does not yet have a listed attorney in the murder case.
