Wrong-way head-on crash kills two I-84 drivers
BOARDMAN, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say both drivers died at the scene when a wrong-way motorist collided with another vehicle near Boardman.
Capt. Bill Fugate says a pickup driven by 77-year-old Clifford Ammons of Reedsport was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 on Monday evening when it collided head-on with a car driven by 27-year-old Francisco Ramirez of Stanfield.
Troopers are trying to determine at what point the pickup entered the freeway traveling the wrong direction.
Those who saw the vehicle traveling the wrong way are asked to contact the Oregon State Police Pendleton Area Command at 541-278-4090.
A dog riding in the pickup survived and was being treated at a veterinary clinic in Hermiston.
