Mother of slain Seaside toddler gets 15 years
ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — The mother of a slain Seaside toddler has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison.
Dorothy Wing was initially charged with murder by abuse in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Evangelina Wing. She pleaded guilty in January to the lesser charge of manslaughter and testified against her former boyfriend, Randy Lee Roden.
The ex-boyfriend was convicted of murder on Monday.
The Daily Astorian reports (http://bit.ly/2fv5Avi) that Wing told the court at Tuesday’s sentencing that she knows she messed up and failed to protect her children.
Evangelina Wing died from blunt force trauma shortly before Christmas in 2014. Wing’s two sons were found badly injured.
Prosecutors believe all three children were tortured, burned, bitten and caged in the months before Evangelina’s death.
Roden will be sentenced later this month.
