Deschutes DA’s office sets public crime prevention meetings

KTVZ

Throughout November, Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel will be hosting public meetings to discuss crime and community safety issues. The meetings are a part of the DeschutesSafe initiative that Hummel launched in June 2015 to analyze, evaluate and supplement current crime prevention programs.

The purpose of these public meetings is to share with the community the work that the DeschutesSafe team is doing, and to provide a forum for the community to share their thoughts on safety and crime prevention. In addition, the initial results from the DeschutesSafe public safety survey will be revealed during the meetings.

“I encourage residents of Deschutes County to come to the meetings and share your thoughts about public safety in our community,” said District Attorney Hummel. “What are our challenges? What are our opportunities? What am I doing well? What do I need to do better? You have opinions and I’m eager to hear them”

Six meetings have been scheduled throughout the county in Bend, Redmond, La Pine, Sunriver and Sisters to provide as many opportunities as possible for county residents to participate.
