Bend plumber launches food, toy drive

It’s the holiday season, and as in years past, Firkus Plumbing is doing another Canned/Non-Perishable Food and Toy Drive for those in need through the Salvation Army & Bend Fire’s “Santa Express”.

In their lobby, they have collection bins for food & toys. They are collecting food & toy items from now until December 16th . The toys should be new and unwrapped. One of the greatest needs are toys for boys and girls ranging from 10 to 12 years old.

Donations will go to The Salvation Army Toy & Joy Project in partnership with Toys for Tots and Helping Hands Resources serving families with Christmas gifts and a holiday meal. Some suggested needs include:

Sports Equipment Legos

Baby Dolls MP3 Player / Ear Buds

Barbies Play Clothes

Play dress clothes Ducks/Beavers Gear

Infant Toys Skateboard

Arts & Crafts Cosmetics / Hair Accessories / Purse or wallet

Power Rangers Chapter Books

Scooters Bikes

According to “Feeding America,” more than 48.8 million people face the threat of hunger daily in the United States. The Salvation Army serves approximately 60 million people yearly.

As an added bonus; Firkus Plumbing is offering a 10% discount to residential customers who donate a toy(s) to the drive.

They have a placed a collection box in their lobby for those who would like to donate a toy or non-perishable food. Let’s help struggling families have a Happy Holiday this season! Thank you.
