Dog euthanized, owner charged in Corvallis animal neglect
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – A charge of animal neglect has been filed against a 29-year-old Corvallis man after police found his dog suffering from open and bleeding sores.
Police said Mark Weber was arrested after officers responding to a disturbance found a white Staffordshire terrier that was unable to stand, had rough and red skin, and was missing fur on most of its body.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reports (https://is.gd/6OQDP9 ) the dog was taken to a veterinary hospital after being found in late December, but was later euthanized. In addition to the injuries, hospital representatives told police the dog’s temperature was 4 or 5 degrees below normal.
Corvallis police Lt. Dan Duncan said the suspect told officers the dog had not been to a veterinarian in years and he knew it had health problems.
Weber did not return calls from the Gazette-Times seeking comment.
