Redmond to close Sixth Street for snow removal

KTVZ

The City of Redmond Transportation Department will begin operations to remove snow from Sixth Street between Black Butte and Forest avenues on Thursday morning.

Sixth Street will be closed to all automotive traffic beginning 4:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., allowing crews to safely operate heavy equipment as they clear snow from the narrowing corridor and parking areas.

In the announcement, the city said, “Keeping our city’s streets clean and safe during the winter is a big job. It can’t happen without the cooperation of all of our residents and businesses. The Transportation Department is requesting your assistance during this closure and asking that you avoid parking cars on the street in the closure areas. Parked cars significantly impede our snow plowing efforts.”

During snow removal operations, the sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians. All other traffic will be re-routed at Black Butte to 11th Street.

The city thanks you in advance for your patience and assistance keeping our downtown safe and accessible this winter. Have a question or would like to report a concern, please email streets@ci.redmond.or.us.
