Sewer project to begin near St. Charles Bend
Construction on the 27th Street sewer project will start a new phase Feb. 12, right in front of St. Charles Bend’s main entrance.
Both the city and the hospital are working to keep the impact of the project to a minimum.
“The city has done an amazing job partnering with the hospital, understanding the importance of the access to our facilities, because we are a 24-hour facility. Most of the work will occur at night,” said Todd Shields, director of outreach and support services for St. Charles Bend and Redmond.
The main entrance on Medical Center Drive will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be clearly marked detours and alternate entrances, and delays should be expected.
The entrances on Purcell Boulevard, Williamson Boulevard on Neff Road, and at Conners Avenue on 27th Street will remain open.
Shields said the city has worked with partner agencies and EMTs, so emergency services will not be adversely affected.
“They will know ahead of time what entrances are impacted, and they’ll have an understanding of how they’ll need to be coming in to get people to the emergency room as quickly as possible to seek the care that they need,” he said.
There will be a public meeting at St. Charles Bend on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Construction representatives will have more information on the project.
