Gov. Kate Brown to visit Prineville, Bend on Thursday
Governor Kate Brown will visit Prineville and Bend Thursday to hear from community leaders about how Oregon can help create jobs in the area and support local families.
Governor Brown’s itinerary includes:
Facebook Data Center
Construction of the data center in 2013 created 207 jobs in Central Oregon and currently supports more than 200 full time jobs. Facebook has also donated more than $1M locally through their Community Action Grants program
IronHorse Lodge
Ironhorse Lodge I is an apartment complex offering 26 affordable, energy-efficient homes for older adults. The $6.3 million project highlights ultra-efficient and renewable features, including: ground source heat pump and energy recovery system; LED lighting with energy saving controls; and a 64.09-kilowatt solar installation with nearly 300 panels on the building’s roof.
Oregon Youth Challenge Program
The Oregon Youth Challenge Program is the only accredited statewide alternative high school. Eligible individuals are accepted from all 36 counties in Oregon. Cadets are eligible to earn a high school diploma, GED or credit recovery of 8 certified credits from required class work completion.
Crook County Regional Forum
The forum is an opportunity for Governor Brown to hear from leaders in Central Oregon, Crook County and Prineville about their vision for economic growth and prosperity. While the rest of Central Oregon’s economy has had a strong recovery, Crook County employment is still 20% below pre-recession levels.
