1 dead, 1 wounded in Corvallis shooting
One person was found fatally shot Friday afternoon in a tent near a Corvallis highway and another was critically injured with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Saturday.
Detectives said the shooting was reported around 2:30 p.m. Friday near the Orleans Natural Area along state Highway 34.
One person was found beside the highway with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and remained in critical condition Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital, officers said.
While searching the area, detectives found a second gunshot victim dead in a nearby tent in a wooded area beside the highway, officers said.
The names of the two people involved were withheld pending family notification.
The highway was closed for a lengthy period for the investigation but has since reopened, police said.
