KTVZ

Deschutes County commissioners are seeking interested Sisters residents to serve on the county’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).

The BPAC offers residents the opportunity to promote and encourage safe bicycling and walking in Deschutes County. Residents with a background or interest in cycling and pedestrian issues are encouraged to apply.

The BPAC advises Deschutes County and other local jurisdictions on a variety of bicycle and pedestrian transportation matters including proposed road construction, signing, and special projects. The appointee for the open position will serve the remainder of a three-year term with the opportunity for reappointment. Applications are due Friday, April 28 at 5 p.m.

The committee’s 13 members serve in a volunteer capacity and are not paid for their time. The committee generally meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month from September to June.

Individuals interested in this opportunity are encouraged to attend the BPAC’s upcoming meeting at Sisters City Hall on April 6 at noon. To apply, please send a letter of interest and qualifications to Matthew Martin or by mail to:
