CEC announces two D.C. youth tour winners
This year’s Central Electric Cooperative Washington, D.C. Youth Tour winners represent the best and brightest Central Oregon has to offer.
CEC is pleased to announce Ethan Allison from Summit High School and Heather Davenport from Mountain View High School will represent the cooperative this June.
“These students will represent our co-op and Central Oregon well and use this experience to further their future goals and commitment to community,” says Jeff Beaman, Member Services Director.
An honor roll student, Allison plays competitive chess, participates in and is a nationally ranked Three Gun competitor, performs ballet with the Central Oregon School of Ballet, competes in cross-country skiing, and volunteers throughout the local community.
Davenport is a member of the National Honor Society, serves on the Mountain View High School Student Counsel and the Leadership Team, is an active member of the Vibe Dance Center, serves on the National Art Honor Society, participates in the Mountain View Robotics team, and volunteers her time throughout the community focusing on senior citizens and children.
The Washington Youth Tour is a program offered by cooperatives throughout the nation to high school juniors from their co-op membership. Participants receive an all-expense paid trip to the nation’s capital where they are immersed in the nation’s history visiting sites like Arlington National Cemetery, the Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian. In addition, students not only meet with other participants their age from across the nation, but they also get the opportunity to discuss current issues with Congressional representatives and senators.
