Three quakes rumble off Oregon coast
Three earthquakes rumbled off the Oregon coast Saturday, and the largest was felt by residents onshore.
The largest, at 3.8 magnitude, struck at 7:48 a.m., about 30 miles west of Newport, at a depth of nearly 23 miles.. The U.S. Geological Survey said people reported feeling the shake from South Beach to Florence and Depoe Bay to Newport, Waldport and Yachats.
A 2.5-magnitude temblor was recorded in the same area at 12:53 p.m., at a depth of nearly 21 miles. In between was a 1.9-magnitude shake, at about 17 miles depth, at 10:52 a.m., according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.
