Hwy. 26 paving project underway north of Madras
Crews from High Desert Aggregate and Paving under contract to ODOT are working on a $3 million project to repave and improve U.S. Highway 26 at Gumwood Lane, north of Madras.
The purpose of this project is to repave US26 to improve the safety, as well as prevent any further deterioration of the pavement. The project is expected to be finished by May 15 .
Crews will be constructing the Gumwood improvements during the daytime. These improvements include excavating, grading, placing base rock, and paving. Grinding and paving operations on US26 are currently underway.
Motorists can anticipate delay up to 20 minutes at night and no delay during daytime after 8 am. Gumwood will remain closed throughout this week, officials said Monday.
Once final paving is complete, durable striping, centerline and shoulder rumble strips and recessed pavement markers in the centerline will be installed.
