Bend Parks seeks teens to help with summer youth programs
Bend Park & Recreation District has many opportunities for teens to volunteer with youth recreation, fitness, swimming and art programs this summer.
Volunteers help from late June through the end of August with District opportunities including the Junior Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Aide programs at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, day camps, preschool, science, art, craft, theater, cooking, fitness, nature and adventure activities for children. New this summer are opportunities supporting programs at the Art Station.
“Teen volunteers provide valuable support with program activities while learning job skills, gaining experience working with younger children, and having fun,” said Kim Johnson, volunteer coordinator. “Teens need to enjoy working with youth, be willing to take initiative, make a commitment and be able to create a positive, encouraging environment for all participants.”
Volunteers and job seekers are also invited to learn more about current volunteer and employment opportunities at open houses on Wednesday, April 26 , and Wednesday, May 10 , from noon to 3 p.m. at the District Office, 799 SW Columbia St.
Age requirement, time commitment, training and schedule vary by program. Minimum age for teen volunteers is 12 years old.
