Bend student accused of threatening Conn. school

KTVZ

A school in Connecticut said it was forced to contact Bend police after a student in Bend posted a threatening comment on social media this week.

The student reportedly wrote, ‘Dont (sic) go to school on Thursday,” and posted it to the Norwich Free Academy’s Instagram account.

Police were contacted, and the post was traced back to an account belonging to a Bend student.

Norwich Free Academy described it as a “random comment” and “inappropriate.”

Police in Connecticut said they investigated and found no threat to the school.

Bend police also found no threat to schools in Central Oregon.

According to Bend police Lt. Brian Kindel, the incident serves as a reminder to report suspicious behavior.

“Absolutely,” Kindel said. “We don’t want to be on the tail end of something we could have, should have, would have reported.”

“So we would absolutely advocate for a person who sees something suspicious or concerning to call us,” he said.
