RPA hosts Sparrow Clubs Day of Service on Friday

KTVZ

Redmond Proficiency Academy middle school students will serve the school and community in an outdoor and school beautification event for their Sparrow on Friday.

RPA’s school-wide service day will generate community service hours for Alexandria, an 8 year-old girl who was diagnosed with a rare chromosome abnormality that affects her learning, nervous system, eyes, muscle control, heart, skin, stomach and kidneys. Through Sparrow Clubs USA, RPA adopted Alexandria, and middle school students will volunteer to raise money to assist with her medical needs.

Students at Redmond Proficiency Academy will “earn” Sparrow Cash by completing a minimum of 256 hours of community service. Sparrow Cash raised for Alexandria will help with ongoing medical expenses, travel to her doctors in Portland, and everyday living expenses. The funding will be provided by RPA’s community Sparrow sponsor, The Hand & Feet Charitable Fund.

Sparrow Day organizer, Kal Middaugh said, “We always look forward to showing students the importance of their volunteer work on this day and hope to provide our Sparrow with the needed resources she deserves.”

About Sparrow Clubs, USA

Sparrow Clubs exist to set the stage for simple, yet heroic, acts of kindness in schools and youth culture by empowering kids to help kids in medical need. Sparrow Clubs not only provides financial and emotional support for children and their families in medical need, but also empowers kids (elementary to college age) to help others through charitable service in their communities.

The Sparrow Clubs program teaches life lessons in compassion and selflessness through building relationships between a Sparrow family, a school student body, and our community. Sick kids get help, healthy kids become heroes and communities experience change.
