Mother, son critically injured in Gresham apartment shooting

KTVZ

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Police say a woman and her 9-year-old son suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting at a Gresham apartment complex.

Gresham police said they are looking for at least one person who they believe broke into the apartment shortly before the shooting, reported shortly before 5 a.m. Monday. Investigators don’t believe it was a random attack.

Police have not said if the shooting was gang-related, but the East Metro Gang Task Force has joined the investigation.

A neighbor told KOIN-TV he heard about three gunshots.

Jalaunda Beamon, the woman’s mother and the boy’s grandmother, told the station that a baby in the apartment was not injured.
