Northwest Community Credit Union has teamed up with nine separate food banks throughout Oregon to deliver much-needed food and cash donations through a Summer Food Drive. The public can make donations at any Northwest Community Credit Union branch June 2 nd – 17 th .

“Many organizations plan food drives around the winter holidays, but we know local food banks in Oregon need help year-round, especially for summer youth programs,” said Northwest Community Credit Union’s CEO John Iglesias. “Our Summer Food Drive helps ensure that local and regional food banks, and the families relying on them, get the assistance they need when they need it.”

Local and regional food bank partners for this effort include Linn-Benton Food Share, NeighborImpact (Bend), Community Sharing Program (Cottage Grove), FOOD for Lane County, Josephine County Food Bank, ACCESS (Medford), South Coast Food Share, Oregon Food Bank (Portland) and UCAN (Roseburg).

Non-perishable food items or cash donations can be made at local Northwest Community Credit Union branches. Some of the most-needed food items include canned meat (tuna, chicken, salmon), canned soup or broth, peanut butter, cooking oil, canned tomatoes (whole, paste, spaghetti sauce), canned and dried beans, and pasta, rice and cereal.

“The only way for our Summer Food Drive to be successful is for our patrons and the public to get involved,” said community relations coordinator, Kim Clark. “That’s why we make it easy for folks to donate food items or cash at any of our branch locations throughout Oregon. Just pop in with your donations and we’ll do the rest.”

Donations are being accepted at local branches now, and the Northwest Community Credit Union Summer Food Drive runs June 2 nd – 17 th .
