Bend prepares for busy summer construction season

KTVZ

The city of Bend is getting ready to start numerous road construction projects across the city this summer.

The Public Works Department has opted to continue road maintenance in order to keep costs low, rather than replacing the entire road surface.

“The idea is keep those good roads good, extend the life of that asset before having to preform that expensive reconstruction work,” Director of Streets and Operations Mike Abbas said Thursday.

Thursday night at City Hall, there will be an open house from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. to provide a chance for the public to learn about the projects that are planned this summer.

The city also has provided a map of the projects that are expected to take place this summer.
