Bend man dies in Hwy. 78 crash in Malheur County
A 20-year-old Bend man was killed Saturday night in the crash of his pickup truck on state Highway 78 in Malheur County, Oregon State Police reported.
Troopers and emergency personnel responded just after 9 p.m. to the reported single-vehicle crash near milepost 64, said OSP Lt. Mark Duncan.
A preliminary investigation indicated a 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Braden Glen Fillmore, 20, of Bend, was heading east when, for unknown reasons, he drifted off the road’s right shoulder, over-corrected, crossed the westbound lane and rolled off the westbound shoulder, Duncan said.
Fillmore, who was alone in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene, the lieutenant said.
OSP troopers were assisted at the crash scene by the Harney County Sheriff’s Office, Malheur County medical examiner and Burns Ambulance, Duncan said.
No other details were immediately available, the trooper said.
