Gov. Brown seeks applicants for Crook County DA
Governor Kate Brown announced Thursd ay that she will fill the pending vacancy in the Crook County district attorney position and began the process of seeking interested applicants.
Pursuant to ORS 8.640, Governor Brown intends to fill the vacancy by appointment, as provided in Article V, Section 16 of the Oregon Constitution.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of District Attorney Daina Vitolins, who was appointed to the Circuit Court bench. Ms. Vitolins’ resignation as district attorney is effective August 11 .
The governor’s office is now accepting applications from candidates with a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. Applicants must submit a District Attorney Interest Form to the governor’s office.
Please note that the District Attorney Interest Form is a distinct form and is not the same form that is used for judicial vacancies. The District Attorney Interest Form is available online at: http://www.oregon.gov/gov/admin/Pages/Judicial-Appointments.aspx .
Interested applicants should mail or deliver their completed application forms to: Ben Souede, General Counsel, Office of the Governor, 900 Court Street NE, Salem, OR 97301-4047. Forms must be received no later than 5 p.m. Friday, July 21 , 2017. Forms emailed by 5 p.m. on the closing date (to Shevaun Gutridge at shevaun.gutridge@oregon.gov ) will be considered timely so long as original, signed forms postmarked by the closing date are later received.
Oregon law requires that, at the time of appointment, the appointee must be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Oregon (ORS 8.630 and ORS 8.640).
